Points of Sailing

The theme of this week's Sail4All Confidence Builder, slipped from last Saturday's (8 May) abandoned session, is "Points of Sailing", descriptions of a sailing boat's course relative to the apparent wind.

For those taking advantage of a Confidence Builder this week (and others who may wish to do refresh their knowledge), HERE is a short aide memoir outlining the points of sailing, amplified by an informative RYA newsletter and a number of short video clips.

We achieved 6 Confidence Builders during the Sail4All session last weekend, sailors benefiting from some "light touch" coaching in the club Wayfarer and from direct supervision afloat while sailing club Picos and Topper. Sail4All is available to all club members - visit the CCSC Training Page for information and sign up details. Experienced members volunteering to assist with the light touch coaching element would be welcome.

That Ketchup Bottle situation

I heard an expression on Match of The day this morning which was, " This is a ketchup bottle situation."  It refers to a situation where nothing happens for a long time then it comes all at once. Basso Cup. 31st July & 1st August

 Notice of Race The Basso cup is one of the oldest and most revered trophies in the Castle Cove Treasure chest. This year the dinghies will contest for the Basso cup in a series of four races.  When more than three races have been completed a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. The keelboats have the opportunity to race a long distance race on Saturday afternoon.   Castle Cove Sailing Club Open Day  Saturday 26th June 2021 Our Clubhouse and grounds will be open to visitors and members alike from 10.00 until 16.00. Everyone is welcome so do come along and enjoy a day out at your remarkable local Sailing Club.
