Sail4All - Tacking and Gybing

After a two week break to accommodate some excellent racing, Sail4All returns to the club on Sat 5 June (14.00), free-sailing in Portland Harbour under safety boat cover. For those who would like to benefit, the theme of next weekend's "confidence builder" is tacking and gybing. Experienced members will demonstrate techniques ashore and afloat, enabling sailors to develop their skills in a friendly environment with some light-touch coaching. Fireworks at Castle Cove. Friday 5th November

Please join us for our annual Fireworks display  on Friday evening. There will be a small bonfire (small because it is COP week) followed by a pyrotechnic marvell orchestrated to music by our very own Jock.  Please bring your own music. There will be hot dogs available to buy and consume on the balcony while you gaze, open mouthed at the spectacle before you.  Timetable. 3pm - Building the fire under the careful supervision of Michael John Abbott 5:30 - 6pm lighting of the bonfire - please bring your own sparklers 7 pm  - Let the fireworks begin.

The Scorpion Nationals story. The Scorpion National Championships 2017 – what a week for club and class, below is a club biased story from this one of the organizers, competitors, members. It seems a while ago now,  but back when July turned into August the club hosted one of the classes that has been a permanent feature at CCSC for many tens of years – the Scorpion – for their week long National Championships. They were returning after a 15year gap, with champs at the club before that in 1996 and 1990.  Testament to the class build quality that 2 out of the 3 previous winning boats were back this year, and someone from all 3 teams was competing in 2017.
